The fifth wave of Covid-19 in Hong Kong is so serious and it made the city’s public health system almost collapse. Therefore, everywhere in Hong Kong is so quite and everything is kind of stopping. However, the work of rescuing stray cats has never stopped; I’m so busy to take care of them daily. For sure, I’m so tired (physically), but my mind (mentally) is so awake. It is because I have my mission to save Tai O stray cats; I need to keep going and without fear to help them.
Because of the pandemic, sterilization appointments for cats scheduled, but temporarily cancelled due to insufficient manpower from many vet clinics (supposedly there were 6 cats for sterilization in that week); but the breeding of stray cats keeps non-stopping. Other than that, I need to keep researching reasonable and affordable prices for sterilization of stray cats and cats of local stores to lower our spending; otherwise, our funding will not last long.
One day last month I worked till 2 a.m. because I need to help out to catch the five-month-old yellow & white kitten of a local store that was lost for five days. Besides, I also need to catch an adult female stray cat for sterilization to prevent any more pregnancy; I was so worried about her because she got several pregnancies before; if she keeps getting pregnant, it may affect her health. More than that, if we can catch her for sterilization, this will help to control cats breeding in Tai O. It was such a relief to get her in the cage successfully that night. You know making cats live a safety and healthy life is one of the missions of Tai O Stray Cat Home.
Lot of rescuing and caretaking for cats made me almost suffocated; I was thinking when would I take a break? But you know there are always sick, wounded, or unwell cats out there and we need to look after them or bring them to see vets if needed. So, I don’t think I will get some rest in the near future. As usual, we always need your support; otherwise, we are unable to pay all the daily and medical expenses for stray cats. If possible, please continue to send us donation for taking care of stray cats and help us to survive in Tai O.
