Project Pamoja, (pamoja means together in swahili) will deliver a high quality school building redevelopment to the community of Kibera. The new building will host state of the art education facilities composed of nine classrooms, laboratory, library and services according to relevant highest health and safety standards. Up to 225 students will benefit from highest educational standards and facilities in the heart of one of the largest slum in Africa.
More than 50%of Kenyan population is composed by young people aged less than 18 years. There is a significant demand for schooling and education which the government, although many improvements have been done in the recent years , is only partially satisfying. The birth of private schools, especially in the urban underdeveloped areas has been a growing trend recently. The educational programs quality and health and safety conditions of those schools are often not up to standards.
VF offers the Kibera community with a valid alternative. VF provides quality education in a caring and contained environment. The small classes, trained and experienced teachers together with a wide range of extracurricular activities the students benefit from, makes VF Academy an important contributor to the development of the community. The new building will offer additional classrooms and spaces, state of the art laboratory and library, built to the most advanced health and safety standards
VF was funded to identify and develop individual child talents to give them a chance to improve their own and their family living conditions. The high quality of the education, together with the tailored monitoring of each child emotional, physical and intellectual development will have a clear impact on the Kibera community future. Every activity carried out by VF involves also the children's parents so to widen the impact and immediately benefit the local community.
