Do you remember when you last bought a new outfit for an important event? How did you feel when you wore it? The newness of it and the great look made you feel good and excited about the event. Now think about that feeling for a moment and imagine it multiplied by a hundred. This is what the children will feel when they enter the new school building once it is finalized.
They have witnessed the transformation from the old building to the new one. First the foundation, then the first floor, then the second floor, and soon the roof will be added. Imagine how much they look forward to seeing it all completed and the joy on their faces when they sit in their new classrooms, ready to embark on an educational journey that could change their lives. They are already eager to come to school every day and don’t want to go home at the end of the day. We can only imagine how excited they will be once this new facility is ready.
Back in 2014, VF dreamed of building a haven in Kibera—a school where children could learn and grow, safe from the elements. We knew this journey wouldn’t be easy, but our passion for providing a stable, nurturing environment for these children fueled our determination.
Fast forward to today, and our dream is nearly realized. We’ve overcome numerous obstacles over the years, from securing land to navigating bureaucratic red tape. Now, the school building stands tall, almost ready to receive our students. But we’re facing a final hurdle: the classrooms are still empty.
The rising costs of materials have stretched our budget thin, and we need to furnish the classrooms to transform the building into the educational center we envisioned. With the opening date set for 15 August, we’re pressed for time and need your help more than ever.
We ask for your help once again. Your support can fill these classrooms with desks, chairs, and all the essentials to create a warm, welcoming learning environment. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to opening our doors and offering Kibera’s children a bright, hopeful future. One individual desk and chair cost £20, and to fit a classroom costs £600. We will be very grateful, and to show our appreciation, we'll add your name to the "Thank You" wall.
