This project offers psychosocial services, supervision of safe spaces, legal, socio-economic assistance and the monitoring of serious violations of children's rights in an integrated and holistic approach to the care of approximately 2,500 vulnerable children, displaced persons, disaster victims and refugees staying in camps, buffer sites and / or with host families, without any assistance. Exposed to the risks of rape, exploitation, recruitment and use by armed groups.
The city of Uvira has been hit by rains of ulvians, floods, conflicts in the highlands and in neighboring Burundi, hundreds of people have moved to camps and accommodation sites. Children were particularly affected for lack of supervision in safe spaces for children, specific and appropriate care. rape, recruitment and use of children by armed groups, exploitation and trauma are the major problems these children face.
AJDC supports children within safe spaces through games and recreational activities, listening, psychological and psychosocial support, legal assistance to victims of abuse and serious violations of rights, socio-economic reintegration through income-generating activities as well as awareness raising on children's rights, monitoring of serious violations of children's rights and referencing with other specialized services.
This project provides for the support of children and their families, the establishment of Community Child Protection Networks, coordination and complementarity with other partners involved in this field.
