Madagascar faces the phenomenon of undernutrition known locally as "Kere". According to media and United Nations sources, for the month of November 2022 to March 2023, 2,023,000 people are in the grip of famine, of which 1.97 million in crisis phase, 250,000 people are classified in a situation of alert and 72% of Madagascar South people on advanced famine. In Madagascar, the rate of chronic malnutrition affects 42% of children under 5 (MICS 2018 survey), one of the highest rates in the world with 66% of adults affected, 39.8% of deaths of children under 5 years. The most productive regions are highly exposed to chronic malnutrition impacting on stunting referring to a child too small for his age.This situation puts the country in a vulnerable position, especially following the covid-19 epidemic which has hit the economy of Malagasy households hard
Contribute to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households hit by famine in the regions of the Great South and South East of Madagascar. Strengthen the post-disaster recovery of 2,600 vulnerable households affected by the passage of cyclones and drought in the Vatovavy, Fitovinany and Atsimo Atsinanana Region of Madagascar, especially those headed by women heads of households and women with children under 05 years old.
-2,600 households supported in post-emergency recovery in order to regain a stable life -at least 500 children under the age of 5 will have access to their marital status, usual food consumption, generic medicines, safe from the effects of the floods -120 pregnant mothers supported with kits and food to ensure their delivery and the first month of birth of babies -women who are heads of households, or who have children under the age of 5 retain their dignity and rights even in times of crisis
