Before the "Tiltti" meeting, there was no comparable low-threshold activity for people with gambling problems and their families in Espoo (Finland).
The “Tiltti” meeting is aimed at people with gambling problems and their relatives. The conversations with family members are usually full of questions, painful emotions and glimmers of hope. The road to recovery is often long and strenuous. Gambling problems are often accompanied by great shame and the desire to hide the gambling situation. This leads to an increased inhibition threshold to seek help.
Every afternoon at Tiltti is different. You never know exactly who will walk through the door. First and foremost, an attempt is made to start a conversation over coffee and tea, because visitors should feel comfortable and safe.
Irma comes every two weeks. He talks about his experience: “I was terribly nervous at first about coming here. But it was worth it!" Irma managed to not play for a whole year. “I suffered for many years before I managed to stop. But Tiltti helped me make changes in my life and find a meaningful everyday life without games."
Thanks to your donation, people like Irma receive help and can overcome their gambling addiction. THANK YOU!
