This project seeks to eradicate school dropouts amongst children and learners with epilepsy from Chileka township in Blantyre District. Children and young people with epilepsy in most cases fail to realize their right to education mostly because of the stigma and discrimination that associates the condition. This project aims to address the issues affecting children's participation in school by working with parents, school authorities and village chiefs to sensitize them on children's rights.
1. Poor school attendance amongst children and youth with epilepsy. 2. Poor understanding of epilepsy by communities leading to poor school attendance and non-adherence of anti-seizure medications
1. Empower rural women to understand epilepsy and seek appropriate treatment 2.Tackle the stigma and discrimination faced by chidren and young men with epilepsy from the education system
1. Increased number of children with epilepsy attending school 2. Better and improved adherence of anti-seizure medication among learners with epilepsy enabling them to have minimal seizures thereby attend school frequently. 3. Communities, village chiefs and school authorities promoting school attendance among learners with epilepsy and are able to support them with their access needs
