Summary

Young mothers are dying of birth because there is not enough qualified Midwifery to attend to them. Due to this shortfall, it is estimated that one midwife handles between 350 and 500 deliveries a year in Uganda, yet WHO recommends that a one midwife should handle not more than 175 deliveries a year. It is behind this backbone why we are setting up a Nursing and Midwifery school to increase the number of professional midwives in the country.

Challenge

The biggest problems is young mothers are dying of giving birth and there is a complete shortage of skills professional. . The midwives are still very few compared to the workload. Due to this shortfall, it is estimated that one midwife handles between 350 and 500 deliveries a year, yet WHO recommends that a one midwife should handle not more than 175 deliveries a year. So there is needs to address this and that is why we are setting up the medical school for Nursing and Midwifery.

Solution

The project will solves the problems as more skill Nurses and Midwives will be train and the gap in Midwifery shortage will be closed and more will be available to attend to delivery and as a result more lives are save.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact is that all health centres in Uganda communities will be able to have a nurse and midwifery in the centre. There's a need for a centre like ours to get support to build the Medical school to train nurses and midwifery.
