A Successful Story!

By United for Colombia | Team

On December 25th, 1998, Lina (at the age 13) was visiting her father, a police officer in the State of Huila, southwestern Colombia. That night, guerrilla fighters attacked the police station. Lina hid under a bunk bed, but unfortunately, the grenade exploded near her and seriously injured her right leg. Due to the severity of the accident, the medical team had to amputate her leg to save her life.

Before receiving care from United for Colombia, Lina was using a very rudimentary prosthesis that caused her additional pain in her back. This back pain prevented her from walking long periods of time. But thanks to the perseverance of United for Colombia and the donations from caring individuals, today, Lina has a state-of-the-art prosthesis, and can now carry out many physical activities.

Additionally, in view of the desire to succeed and give back to society, Lina has finished her Law studies at the University of Huila and is currently working in a well-known multinational company located in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

Lina got over a painful past and she is building now a brighter future, thanks to your help.

There are more children and young people who need our support. Let’s make a brighter future for them too.

Best wishes,

United for Colombia
