Challenge

The ongoing Syrian conflict, exacerbated by the 2023 earthquake and economic collapse, has resulted in a significant increase in motor disabilities among civilians. This situation is dire, particularly for displaced individuals, who face limited access to essential rehabilitation services and mobility aids. The existing healthcare infrastructure struggles to meet the growing demand, leaving thousands of individuals without the necessary support to regain their independence.

Solution

The NSPPL will expand its network of rehabilitation centers and mobile workshops in northern Syria and neighboring Turkey to provide comprehensive services. This includes the manufacturing and fitting of prosthetic limbs, physical therapy, psychological support, and distribution of mobility aids like wheelchairs and crutches. Additionally, NSPPL will train 50 new specialists in prosthetics and physical therapy, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of services.

Long-Term Impact

The project aims to significantly improve the quality of life for over 7,000 individuals with motor disabilities, enabling them to regain their independence and reintegrate into society. By training local specialists, NSPPL will ensure the continued availability of high-quality rehabilitation services, contributing to the long-term resilience and recovery of the affected communities.
