They Lost Their Homes, Not Their Dignity

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

Violent conflict can take away a person's home, livelihood, possessions, and sense of security.

But it should never take away their dignity.

During our recent humanitarian engagement in Daudu Community, Guma LGA, Benue State, GoGreen met 64 displaced persons with disabilities.

Their circumstances highlighted the additional challenges some people face when displacement intersects with disability.

Access to food, safe water, hygiene supplies, shelter, and healthcare can become particularly difficult when humanitarian services are not fully accessible.

Yet these individuals are not defined by their disabilities or by the conflict that displaced them.

They are members of families and communities.

They have skills, aspirations, experiences, and contributions to make.

They deserve to be treated not merely as recipients of charity but as people with rights, choices, and the ability to shape their own recovery.

Through our Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria project, we are committed to promoting humanitarian assistance that respects dignity and inclusion.

We want to provide food and essential relief while ensuring that persons with disabilities are meaningfully considered in our response.

Your donation can help us bring practical assistance to people facing some of the most difficult consequences of displacement.

Please help us reach vulnerable families in Daudu and other conflict-affected communities.

They may have lost their homes, but together, we can help protect their dignity and restore hope.
