Summary

This project will provide safe reporting channels, referral services, and school-based prevention sessions for 1,000 minors in high-risk communities in Nigeria. Over 70% of reported child sexual abuse cases go unpunished due to fear, stigma, or lack of access to help. We will train 100 teachers and caregivers, provide abuse reporting materials, and organize prevention workshops to help minors understand their rights and access support early.

Challenge

Many minors in Nigeria experience sexual abuse but lack safe, confidential, and timely access to help. Social stigma, lack of trained responders, and limited prevention knowledge in schools make it difficult for children to speak up or be protected. Survivors often go without legal or health support. Schools and caregivers are not equipped to identify signs early or know where to refer cases. This leaves many children vulnerable, silenced, and without support.

Solution

The project will build child safety awareness in schools and homes through training sessions, printed guides, and visual tools. Teachers and caregivers will be trained to spot warning signs early and report cases. Minors will participate in safe-body lessons and group discussions, and referral support will be provided for abuse survivors. Materials will be translated into local languages and distributed widely in schools and community centers.

Long-Term Impact

This project will help children speak up earlier, seek help faster, and recover more safely. It will improve how schools, families, and local support groups respond to abuse cases. Teachers and parents trained through this project will continue to share the knowledge, helping protect more children over time. Over 1,000 minors will directly benefit, and schools will have tools to sustain ongoing child protection education.
