Preparing to Protect Nigeria’s Most Vulnerable Teens from HIV.
Across Nigeria, thousands of adolescents remain at high risk of HIV infection every year. Many lack access to prevention tools that are effective, private, and easy to use. At Empower Future Initiative (EFI), we believe young people deserve better protection and a healthier future.
That is why we are preparing to introduce Lenacapavir, a groundbreaking long-acting HIV prevention injection that can protect individuals for up to six months at a time. Unlike daily pills used in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), this innovative solution removes the challenge of remembering medication every day—making it especially promising for adolescents.
Although we are still awaiting our first donations for this project, our team has already begun important preparation work. We are developing youth-friendly awareness materials, strengthening partnerships with community stakeholders, and designing outreach strategies that will help young people understand and trust this life-saving prevention option.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to ensure that vulnerable adolescents in Nigeria can access modern HIV prevention tools that truly work for them.
Once funding begins to arrive, EFI will immediately begin community mobilization, awareness campaigns, and clinical partnerships to ensure that at-risk adolescents can receive Lenacapavir safely and confidentially.
