Summary

Sri Lanka's street dogs face neglect, abuse, hunger, and disease. This project aims to rescue vulnerable dogs, provide them with medical care, shelter, food, and rehabilitation, and rehome them with loving families. We also run awareness programs to promote humane treatment and reduce abandonment. Your support will help us give these animals a second chance at life and create safer, kinder communities for both dogs and people.

Challenge

Sri Lanka is home to over 3 million street dogs, many facing starvation, disease, abuse, and untreated injuries. Lack of proper veterinary services and limited awareness contribute to overpopulation and suffering. Rabies remains a public health risk, with 20+ human deaths reported annually. Without intervention, these animals continue to live in fear and pain. This project addresses the urgent need for rescue, care, and responsible rehoming of street dogs.

Solution

This project will rescue street dogs in distress, provide medical care, sterilization, vaccinations, and shelter, reducing suffering and overpopulation. Through rehoming efforts, dogs will find loving families. Community awareness campaigns will educate the public on humane treatment and responsible pet ownership. These combined actions will improve animal welfare and reduce the street dog population sustainably.

Long-Term Impact

This project will reduce the street dog population through sterilization and adoption, leading to fewer animals suffering on the streets. Increased public awareness will foster a culture of compassion and responsible pet ownership. Over time, rabies cases and dog-related injuries will decline, improving community health. The project sets a model for sustainable animal welfare practices across Sri Lanka, creating lasting change for both animals and people.
