IWF called 2021 the "worst year on record" for child sexual abuse online. The HUG Project is addressing this issue by sharing a vital tool called Exposed to help children protect themselves from online predators. Exposed was created in cooperation with a survivor, known as "Meetoo", who decided to reclaim her story by helping other victims find a path to recovery through this handbook. We printed over 500 books but we have already given all of them away to children and families.
Sextortion is one of the FASTEST growing crimes in the world. Children in Thailand continue to be targeted online by predators and then coerced into giving private information, photos, and videos. The most frightening part? This is happening in their own homes, right in front of their parents. Sextortion continues to grow at a rapid rate and the HUG Project is working directly with children and communities to spread awareness.
The HUG Project is bringing vital protection and prevention strategies to schools, organizations, communities, parents, and most importantly- CHILDREN. This handbook opens up important conversations within families in a child-friendly manner. It not only uses education to prevent abuse from happening, but it also provides direct resources on how to help if a child has already been exploited.
When "Meetoo" looked for help online years ago, she only found pornographic sites. However, now we have helpful resources that should be easily accessible to every family and child in Thailand. Our team has the ability to reach more children by sending Exposed all over the country. Exposed was created by survivors and caring professionals. Our team witnesses this happening to children every day, and we want to stop the abuse that these children experience. Will you help us?
