In April 2024, NCMEC, in collaboration with Meta and partners in Thailand, including TICAC and the Hug Project, has launched the Take It Down initiative to help identify whether child sexual abuse images or videos are on various platforms. The initiative will take action to remove or prevent the dissemination of your images, and your personal information will remain completely confidential throughout the process.

If any victims concerned about nude images of yourself being online, you can now request their removal. Visit this website  TakeItDown.NCMEC.org

About Take It Down

Take It Down is a free, web-based service developed by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the U.S., with Meta as a founding partner using its technology for operations. It aims to assist youth and teenagers in removing online nude images, partial nudity, or pornographic content of themselves taken before they turned 18. This initiative marks the first collaboration in the industry to provide a service for removing such personal images from the internet, preventing further online distribution for those under 18. Currently, the program offers services in 25 languages globally and is expanding operations to various countries, reaching millions of teenagers worldwide, including in Thailand. Recently, Facebook Thailand, in collaboration with NCMEC, announced the expansion of the Take It Down program in Thailand, now offering services in Thai, in partnership with local allies including the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (TICAC) from the Royal Thai Police and the Hug Project in Thailand. Other partners involved in Take It Down include OnlyFans, Pornhub, and others, which can be viewed here.

Who can use the Take It Down service for free?

-              Children and teenagers under 18 who are concerned that their personal images are being or may be shared online.

-              Parents or trusted adults who manage personal images on behalf of children and teenagers.

-              Adults worried that personal images taken before turning 18 are being or may be shared online.

Note: For individuals over 18 who may face issues with personal images being shared online, they can report for assistance at the StopNCII website (Stop Non-consensual Image Sharing) that Meta launched in 2021 in collaboration with over 70 non-profit organizations globally to support adults who have fallen victim to the sharing of personal images online or alterations with nude content.

How does the Take It Down service work? Start by visiting TakeItDown.NCMEC.org and click "Get Started," with the option to select the Thai language. Answer a few short questions.  Select the images or videos on your device that you're concerned may appear online. Take It Down will create a unique digital fingerprint called a "hash" for the nude image or video. The hash will be shared with participating online partners, including Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram, to check for the presence of those images or videos and take action to remove or prevent their dissemination. Throughout this process, no images or videos will be removed from your device, and no one will see them. Additionally, you will not need to disclose any personal information.

The Hug Project is pleased to be part of the Take It Down initiative to support children and youth, and we are very proud to be part of this project in Thailand. Our team has also produce a video in Thai language to help Thai children to understand and how to utilize the website. Thank you so much for your support. This campaign will help many children in the world and we are excited to be chosen to be a representative in Thailand.
