Mobilizing 2000 People Through Forest Conservation

By Priscilla Nyadoi | Project Leader

Dear Donor,

Forests provide essential environmental services, support biodiversity, protect soils, and contribute to the livelihoods of communities. Yet their conservation requires cooperation among many different stakeholders.

Uganda Wildlife Society organized four stakeholder dialogues that reached approximately 2,000 people, raising awareness of the need for stronger collaboration in forest restoration and conservation.

The dialogues provided opportunities to discuss the challenges facing forests and the importance of coordinated action among local communities, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders.

A central message was that no single organization can address forest degradation alone. Effective conservation depends on shared responsibility, better coordination, community participation, and consistent commitment to sustainable land use.

The discussions encouraged stakeholders to recognize their complementary roles in restoration, environmental education, and the responsible management of natural resources.

These dialogues are important because conservation efforts can become fragmented when stakeholders work independently. Creating opportunities for discussion helps strengthen relationships and identify areas where joint action can make a meaningful difference.

We thank everyone who participated in these dialogues and all partners supporting forest conservation.

When people and institutions work toward a shared goal, the opportunity for meaningful and lasting environmental change becomes stronger. Together, we are building a wider movement for forest restoration and conservation in Uganda.
