Dear Donor,
Uganda Wildlife Society continues to promote practical restoration activities that help communities address environmental degradation and protect valuable natural habitats.
In Tororo District, Eastern Uganda, restoration activities included planting 6,000 tree seedlings in degraded parts of the Tororo Rock Habitat Ecosystem.
This intervention represents a practical contribution to restoring vegetation in degraded areas and encouraging greater community attention to the protection of natural habitats.
As seedlings establish and grow, they can help improve vegetation cover, stabilize vulnerable soils, contribute to carbon storage, and create better habitat conditions for wildlife. The actual benefits will depend on seedling survival, species suitability, and continued management.
Protecting newly planted trees is particularly important. Seedlings can be vulnerable to drought, grazing, fire, and other environmental pressures, making follow-up care essential to the success of restoration efforts.
Community involvement can help strengthen the long-term protection of planted trees and promote a shared sense of responsibility for the Tororo Rock landscape.
We appreciate the support of our partners and the commitment of community members working to protect this important ecosystem.
Every surviving tree contributes to the long-term goal of restoring degraded landscapes. Together, we are helping create a healthier environment for biodiversity and future generations.
