Turning Conservation Experience Into Stronger Env.

By Priscilla Nyadoi | Project Leader

Dear Donor,

Conservation projects generate valuable lessons about the challenges communities face, the practices that work, and the support required to manage natural resources sustainably.

Uganda Wildlife Society has documented lessons from its project activities and used them in policy and dialogue forums at district and national levels. These engagements support advocacy for sustainable land use and the protection of Lake Victoria's biodiversity and habitat resources.

The experience gained through community restoration, tree growing, environmental education, and stakeholder engagement can help inform discussions about conservation priorities and implementation challenges.

Sharing lessons also provides an opportunity to bring community perspectives into wider conversations about environmental management. Rural households often have direct experience of changes affecting their land, livelihoods, and access to natural resources. Their perspectives can help ensure that conservation discussions consider local needs and practical realities.

Policy advocacy is a continuing process, and meaningful change requires sustained engagement, collaboration, and follow-through. By documenting experiences and participating in dialogue, UWS is contributing to a foundation for better-informed decisions.

We appreciate the communities, partners, and stakeholders who contribute to this work.

Conservation is strengthened when practical lessons from the field help inform the decisions that shape the future of natural resources.

Together, we are connecting community experience with policy dialogue to support more sustainable environmental management in Uganda.
