Protecting displaced Palestinian Syrian Families by Providing Hygiene Kits

Background during the implementation of the project;  The last difficult socio – political and economical situation inside Lebanon affected all generations which created much stress on the Lebanese and Palestinian lives. As Lebanon fall under the pressures politically, socially it is better to have an emergency plan and updated situational analysis which effected situation of Lebanon internally and externally. The Lebanese borders are the closest escape from battles, providing a safe destination for PRS. Moreover, most of the displaced persons from Syria come from the same Palestinian villages, from which come the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. In addition, there are parental relations between Palestinian in Syria and those in Lebanon. And it is worthy to mention that the Jordanian borders were closed in front of the Palestinian refugees, and the Turkish did not welcome them either. Palestinian refugees had no choice but fleeing to Lebanon.

Process of the project implementation; The project is trying to respond to the main priorities and problems that the refugees are suffering from during their displacement. As the project is trying to fulfill the gaps,w e interfered in providing such Non-food itmes "Hygiene kits" for the 50 displaced families who are sheltered inside Ein El Helweh Palestinian refugee camp. By that way we will be able to cover the minimum needs of the Syrian refugees. 

Summary of the main achievements; The project is targeting 50 Palestinian refugees families who are displaced from Syria to Ein El Helweh Palestinian refugee camp, who are the most marginalized groups among refugees. 

Process of achievements 

  • Orientation for the targeted community and the local reference system including the community of the refuges, local NGOs and the popular committees. 
  • A steering committee including the refugee community, project staff and the popular committee. Two meetings were held among this committee in order to scan the families and how to follow up the distribution process. 
  • After opening the door for the suppliers by an invitation three attended interesting in supplying the hygienic kit; On15th  of November 2013 the contract that is related to the hygienic kit was signed with one supplier.
  • Distributing the personal Hygiene kits for the 50 displaced Palestinian refugee families during the 20th and 25th of November 2013. Where the families were informed by the dates and the time of receiving the kits at Naba’a center inside Ein El Helweh camp.

List of the Hygiene Kit; Hygienic pads/ 1 piece/private, Soap, Shampoo 2 Liter, Shaving cream, Disposable Razors, Sterilized Alcohol, Detergent Dettol bottle/ 500 ml, Washing Powder, Gloves for toileting / national products, Plastic Jar/ 1.5 liter, Water Bucket, Wiper, Floor Cloth, Broom.
