Thank you for supporting David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) Protecting Chimpanzees.
In 2016, the western chimpanzee was listed as critically endangered by the IUCN Red List. Guinea remains a key chimpanzee stronghold, but many challenges still exist which threaten their survival. The three key threats to chimpanzees are poaching (for bushmeat, live trade, traditional medicine, and crop protection), habitat loss and fragmentation, and disease.
For the 2022-2023 financial year DSWF funding to our ground-based conservation partner in Guinea seeks to reduce the negative impact that humans and expansion of settlements exerts on the populations of wild chimpanzees in Guinea and their habitats, specifically around the High Niger National Park (HNNP), through education and community development.
This will be achieved through the following objectives:
Through achieving these objectives our ground-based conservation partners expect to see the following impact:
DSWF relies entirely on donations and support from generous individuals like you to continue to fight wildlife crime, protect species and engage individuals and communities to ensure a brighter future for wildlife. So, thank you for helping to give Chimpanzees a chance of survival.
