This new bill, which punishes people for affirming their LGBTQI+ identity, puts the community at greater risk, and will intensify the violence and persecution they face. This legislation criminalizes the mere expression of identity and imposes punitive measures on those who fail to report LGBTQI+ individuals, fostering a climate of fear and discrimination within Ghanaian society. As a result, LGBTQI+ individuals face increased risk of persecution, violence, and social exclusion, further exacerbating their vulnerability and marginalization. This legislation not only violates basic human rights principles but also undermines the values of equality and dignity.
This project will address the problem by providing critical support to LGBTQI+ communities in Ghana. Through legal assistance, safe housing and essential services such as emergency support and healthcare access, it empowers LGBTQI+ individuals to assert their rights and seek justice. Additionally, community outreach programs will raise awareness, combat stigma, and promote acceptance within society. the project seeks to create a future where all individuals can live with dignity, equality.
The project aims to foster Ghanaian partners to advocate for LGBTQI+ rights, challenging discriminatory legislation and promoting acceptance through community outreach, it aims to reduce stigma and prejudice against LGBTQI+ individuals.
