On World Wildlife Day, we will stand with park rangers and families around Yankari Game Reserve, home to Nigeria's last remaining elephant population. As wildlife faces growing threats, this project will protect endangered species while supporting nearby communities to become stewards of nature, ensuring Yankari's wildlife survives for future generations.
Yankari Game Reserve faces rising threats from poaching, habitat loss, and climate pressure. Elephants and other wildlife are disappearing, while nearby communities struggle with poverty and limited alternatives. Without urgent action, Nigeria risks losing critical species and ecosystems that support biodiversity, tourism, and local livelihoods.
We will support community-led conservation through wildlife protection awareness, habitat restoration, and alternative livelihood training. By working with local rangers, youth, and community leaders, we will reduce poaching, restore ecosystems, and empower communities to protect Yankari's wildlife while improving their own economic resilience.
Our long-term goal is a thriving Yankari Game Reserve where wildlife is protected and communities benefit from conservation. We aim to restore habitats, strengthen local conservation leadership, and ensure elephants and other species continue to roam safely, building a sustainable future for people and nature in Nigeria.
