Dear Supporters,
We are proud to officially launch our World Wildlife Day conservation initiative focused on protecting Yankari Game Reserve, home to Nigeria’s last remaining elephant population.
Although we have just begun this journey, your early support has already helped us take the first critical steps toward mobilizing communities and conservation stakeholders around Yankari.
What We Have Done So Far
In preparation for World Wildlife Day, our team has
Initiated consultations with local community leaders and youth groups around Yankari.
Begun engagement discussions with park rangers to identify urgent protection and awareness needs.
Developed a conservation awareness framework tailored to local realities, focusing on anti-poaching education and habitat preservation.
Started mapping vulnerable community clusters where alternative livelihood training can reduce reliance on harmful environmental practices.
These early coordination efforts are essential to ensure that every dollar raised directly supports impactful, community-driven conservation.
Why This Matters Now
Yankari is more than a game reserve; it is one of Nigeria’s last strongholds for elephants and other endangered species. Rising threats from poaching, habitat degradation, and climate pressure put immense strain on both wildlife and surrounding communities.
Without sustainable economic alternatives, conservation becomes difficult. That is why this project combines wildlife protection with community empowerment.
Community Response
Local leaders have expressed strong interest in participating in awareness sessions and youth engagement programs. Many residents recognize that protecting Yankari means protecting tourism opportunities, ecosystem services, and long-term community stability.
This encouraging response confirms that conservation must be collaborative, not imposed, but community-owned.
Current Status
Total Goal: $85,000
Raised So Far: $25
Remaining: $84,975
We are at the very beginning, and this is the most important phase. Early momentum helps us build partnerships, attract more donors, and scale faster.
What Happens Next
In the coming weeks, we will:
Launch community wildlife awareness forums.
Begin youth-led environmental stewardship campaigns.
Identify participants for alternative livelihood training.
Develop habitat restoration pilot activities.
We are committed to providing transparent updates as milestones are achieved.
Note
Nigeria cannot afford to lose its last elephant population. Conservation is not only about animals; it is about identity, heritage, tourism, climate resilience, and economic survival for rural families.
Your support at this early stage sends a powerful message: Yankari matters.
Thank you for standing with wildlife and communities.
With gratitude,
Empower Future Initiative
