Pangolins are currently the most illegally trafficked mammals on Earth. Our aim is to counter the wildlife trafficking of pangolins and to improve the long-term survival of the species. By disrupting organised crime syndicates involved in the trafficking of pangolins in Uganda, empowering law enforcement officials and funding demand reduction campaigns in Asia, David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) are working at all levels of the illegal wildlife crime cycle to ensure the survival of this 80-million-year-old species.
Pangolin Conservation Updates 2019:
Uganda:
DSWF have recently collaborated with a new ground-based conservation partner to help protect pangolins in Uganda.
Noting that wildlife laws alone are insufficient to disrupt trafficking activities, DSWF are funding a training and mentoring camp to equip investigators and prosecutors with the capabilities to build strong cases for the prosecution of financial crimes.
