In this painful story, we meet a single mother of two daughters who also has chronicle autoimmune disease while fighting with insensible institutions to help her older daughter, who is exploited by an older boy. With the classical "lover boy" introduction, the 14 years old girl was brutally abused and forced to the illicit activities.
This mom did everything she could when her daughter started to express troublesome behaviour. Among others, a daughter was highly aggressive in communication, having problems in school and showing signs of self-destructive behaviour like violating her skin, banging her head to the door, alcohol abuse…
Mom informed the local Social Welfare Center and Police when the daughter runs from home. Also, once, while her daughter was hitting herself, she called an ambulance. Mom had enough suspicious information about that older boy, but the Police didn't find it relative to intervene. They said to the mother that her daughter willingly participated in illicit activities such as robbing a story or begging on the street, so that is her fault for not raising her well. Social Welfare Center was defending itself that the girl was not cooperative, so they couldn't do anything.
When a desperate mother called our SOS hotline, we urgently filed an official complaint, calling authorities to react. The mother informed us when the girl was found and separated from the boy. The girl was in urgent need of medical help. She had severe gynecologic problems and a bladder infection.
In the beginning, we focused on that medical area and didn't push the girl to talk about what had happened to her.
Mom was still desperate because the girl didn't want to talk to her either.
We tried to explain to a mom that she must give space to a girl. Not asking questions and giving her time and space also shows her that she cares.
Once, when ASTRA Mobile Unite visited a girl she suddenly started talking about everything. She fell in love with him. She met him in a coffee shop. As she said, he was the most careful and patient boy she had ever met. They had been dating for three months when she decided to sleep with him. He was her first boyfriend. After that, everything changed. First, he isolated her from friends and family. Then he started to be aggressive with her. Not long after, he hit her for the first time. One hit became two, then three, and then she stopped counting. There were days that she couldn't stand up or sit on a chair because of the pain caused by the beatings and rapes he had done to her. She was so scared. She was so ashamed.
After telling all this out loud, she started to heal. Her mother and sister are there for her. She faced her trauma and started to work on her recovery.
It will be one long recovery process, but we promised her that we would be there for her every step of the way.
