Summary

Underprivileged families in the Mekong Delta live in fragile shelters, exposing them to illness and poor study conditions for children. This project builds durable, eco-friendly houses with roofs made from recycled plastic sheets or solar panels, reducing plastic waste and providing electricity. Your support covers part of the costs, with the rest funded by the community and local authorities. This project also runs surveys, monitors the projects and advises households on how to save on costs.

Challenge

Over 55,200 people in the region live below the poverty line ($0.5-$1/day), lacking basic needs like safe housing, clean water, and toilets. Many reside in small, temporary shelters without toilets or clean water, exposing them to health and safety risks, including storms, floods, and dangerous animals. Besides, Vietnam's plastic waste worsens pollution. This project provides eco-friendly homes for 20 families, offering safer shelters while reducing environmental harm.

Solution

This project will provide 20 poorest families with eco-friendly houses using recycled plastic panels or solar roofs, offering safe, durable shelters. It improves living conditions, reduces health risks, and fosters a stable environment for children. Community collaboration helps cover costs, fostering solidarity. By demonstrating eco-friendly construction, neighbors can observe the benefits, encouraging eco-friendly practices and reducing plastic waste for a more sustainable future.

Long-Term Impact

The project directly impacts 20 families, benefiting approximately 100 individuals, including vulnerable children and elderly members. Indirectly, it influences the broader community of over 500 neighbors who observe and learn about eco-friendly construction methods and sustainable living practices. By promoting recycled materials and green innovations, the project fosters environmental awareness and encourages future adoption of these practices, amplifying its reach to hundreds more over time.
