Expanding Access to Clean Water for Rural People

By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader

Development Alert remains committed to improving access to safe and clean water for underserved communities in rural Uganda. Access to clean water is essential for health, dignity, and sustainable development, yet many families still face challenges in obtaining safe and reliable water sources.

We are proud to share that over 5,000 people continue to benefit from access to clean water through our ongoing interventions. This has significantly reduced waterborne diseases, improved hygiene and sanitation, and eased the burden—especially on women and children—who often travel long distances in search of water.

Despite this progress, the need remains great. Many communities are still without access to safe water, relying on unsafe sources that put their health and livelihoods at risk.

To address this gap, Development Alert is launching an initiative to drill 13 additional community boreholes. These boreholes will provide safe, reliable, and sustainable water sources to thousands more people, transforming lives and strengthening community resilience.

We are deeply grateful to our supporters who have made our achievements possible so far. However, we cannot do this alone.

We invite you to continue walking this journey with us by supporting the drilling of these 13 boreholes. Your contribution will help bring clean water closer to those in need, improve health outcomes, and create lasting impact for entire communities.

Together, we can ensure that access to clean water is not a privilege, but a reality for all.
