In remote Nigerian villages, lack of transport delays treatment and increases death rates during emergencies. This project will provide 50 bicycle ambulances to 50 hard-to-reach communities. Each unit will be used to carry pregnant women, sick children, or accident victims to nearby clinics. With basic equipment and local riders, these ambulances will offer a safe and low-cost option to get help fast.
Many rural villages in Nigeria lack roads and vehicles. During emergencies, sick people are carried on foot or on wheelbarrows to far-off clinics. This delay leads to loss of life, especially for pregnant women and children. Without low-cost transport, people in these communities often miss life-saving care. Regular ambulances cannot reach most of these places due to poor road access.
Each bicycle ambulance is built with a stretcher and protective cover to carry patients safely. Trained local riders will be available at all hours to respond to emergency calls. Community health workers will coordinate usage and ensure the units are maintained. The ambulances will make it easier and faster for people to reach clinics without relying on expensive or unavailable transport.
These ambulances will help reduce deaths linked to delayed treatment in rural areas. Pregnant women will reach clinics for delivery, and sick children will get care without delay. Community trust in basic health services may grow as more people survive emergencies. With proper use and care, each ambulance can serve hundreds of people every year.
