Smart Osvita is committed to supporting the education and emotional well-being of Ukrainian schoolchildren during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. Our professionally developed "Chest for Shelter" is a tool-kit aimed at strengthening psychological resilience, reducing stress, maintaining focus, alleviating anxiety, and providing a continuous learning environment for children forced to spend a lot of time in a bomb shelter during their education process.
Amid the full-scale invasion, over 2 million Ukrainian children attend schools and participate in offline classes. The educational process has been severely disrupted, with approximately 14,000 air raids reported in 2022 alone. This situation has necessitated using bomb shelters during education for extended periods. In response to this crisis, Smart Osvita has received over 300 urgent requests from schools across Ukraine for assistance in equipping their bomb shelters with necessary resources.
In collaboration with psychologists, educational experts, and designers, we have developed the "Chest for Shelter." Each chest is designed for 100 school children's usage simultaneously, multiple times. We've already initiated a project pilot phase, with 15 chests distributed among various regions. The feedback from schools has been overwhelmingly positive. Our next step is to provide a Chest for Shelter minimum for ten schools before the beginning of the school year (1 August 2023).
Smart Osvita aims to equip 300 schools (1/10 of schools in need) with our "Chest for Shelter" the following year, positively impacting up to 30,000 schoolchildren across Ukraine. Supporting these children's education and emotional well-being today can have far-reaching benefits. In the long term, it will contribute to a resilient, educated generation that will play a vital role in Ukraine's recovery and future development.
