The summer break ended with cooler weather and some unexpected early rain. We also welcomed four new students this term—girls entering 7th, 9th, and 10th grade. Our staff organized orientation and welcoming activities to help them settle into their new extended family at Warm Heart. One highlight was a trip to the “Sticky Waterfall,” where the children climbed the sandstone falls together and escaped the heat for the day.
Our recent high school graduates are now settling into university life. Obcheoi has begun studying Business English, while Tuiy Nui is pursuing Counseling and Psychology. Ying S., who took a gap year after a knee injury, is now in a business program at Rajabhat Chiang Mai University.
Tangmo returned home for her nursing school break and has been helping around Warm Heart while she is here. She has joined visits to elderly community members, checked on children with colds and scrapes, and helped Mali and Soda catch up on program paperwork. It’s great to have her here as a mentor to the younger students.
Before the new school term began, we invited guardians and family members to a parents’ meeting to review home rules and help students prepare for the year ahead. Several parents offered to volunteer on weekends to help with the farm and other campus activities—support that strengthens both the program and the children’s connection with their families.
The new greenhouse is now fully operational, and the students have been helping keep it weeded and productive. They also helped plant a new “living fence” made from cassava stalks, which will eventually grow into a dense natural barrier to keep out wandering neighborhood dogs while adding greenery around the property.
Thank you for helping make this new school year possible. Together, we are giving these children a future filled with promise. We will keep you posted as the year progresses.
With gratitude,
Dana, Michael, Evelind, and the Warm Heart Family
