Thank you for your support over the years!
By Eimi Olson | Project Leader
Thank you so much for all of your generous support over the years. You have helped NYF to give scholarship support to so many bright students with disabilties - enabling them to go to school and achieve their dreams. While NYF will continue supporting these students, our fundraising efforts on GlobalGiving will now focus on providing immediate COVID-19 relief to families in Nepal.
As a result, we will be concluding this project on GlobalGiving. We are so grateful to each and every one of you who have helped to make this project a success.
We hope you’ll continue to support NYF’s ongoing efforts to empower Nepalese youth. Please check out our newest projects on GlobalGiving, which we’ve launched in response to the current global crisis:
Thank you again!

"Anju" with NYF founder, Olga Murray
In NYF’s 30th Anniversary year, we’d like to share a wonderful story about one of our brightest students – a blind, six-year-old girl from a small village in rural Nepal. Without an NYF scholarship, “Anju” would’ve never been able to go to school.
Almost 25 years ago, NYF began providing financial support for Anju to attend a special school for disabled students in Kathmandu.
A gifted and hard-working student, Anju excelled from first grade onwards. After high school, she won a Fulbright scholarship, and earned a bachelor’s degree from a university in Colorado.
Anju has devoted her life to supporting children with disabilities. She worked for an agency of the United Nations in a remote part of Nepal, and traveled every weekend for hours by bus to volunteer as an English teacher at a school for the blind.
Now, Anju is in charge of implementing programs in Nepal for a foundation that educates children with disabilities. A tireless advocate for these vulnerable children, Anju is just one of the more than 50,000 children NYF has helped in Nepal over the last three decades.
Our Disabled Students Scholarship program, which you have so generously supported, helps to ensure that children with disabilities can go to school, lead dignified and productive lives, and inspire others – like Anju.
Thank you so much for your support!

Ansu says Thank You!
By Eimi Olson | Project Leader

You may remember "Ansu" from a previous report. She is a 15-year-old girl from eastern Nepal, paralyzed from the waist down. Since there were no schools for disabled students where she was living, Ansu and her family had to move all the way to Kathmandu so she could attend a special school. With an NYF scholarship helping to cover her school expenses, Ansu is thriving in and out of the classroom.
We're delighted to share this letter Ansu wrote herself.
Your generous support has helped many students like Ansu go to school. Thank you for giving these children a brighter future!
