Susma was just one year old when both of her legs were badly burnt in an open fire oven. Her impoverished family of six didn’t have the means to properly care for her.
Because the nearest school was a few hours walk away, Susma didn’t attend school at all. Her future looked bleak...until her father was finally able to bring her to Kathmandu for medical care.
While receiving her prosthetic legs in the city, Susma’s father learned about NYF and appealed for support. In May of 2018, Susma proudly attended her first day of school through NYF’s Disabled Student Scholarship.
Today she is studying in the first grade at Annal Jyoti School while living at the school's hostel and receiving excellent specialized care.
It is the generosity you share that makes it all possible! Thank you.
