In Belize, rural families are expected to provide a school desk for their child in order to attend school. Most families cannot afford the school desk, and therefore, their child cannot go to school. Putting a $30 school desk in a remote school in Belize allows one more child to attend school and protects children from human trafficking, extreme poverty, and violence by providing long-term sustainable support to schools.
Schools give children have hope for the future. Children attending school daily are less likely to participate in criminal activities.
