Background
In rural Togo, economic opportunities are limited, and many communities struggle with poverty due to the lack of access to financial services. Traditional financial institutions rarely extend their services to these areas, leaving local entrepreneurs without the means to improve their lives.
Our initiative is addressing this gap by empowering 200 women in the Maritime Region through small loans, business training, and tailored coaching. The goal is to equip these women with the skills and resources they need to create sustainable businesses and break the cycle of poverty.
Updates
We have made significant progress in the Maritime Region:
Micro-Loans for Entrepreneurs: We’ve provided small loans to over 150 women, enabling them to start or expand businesses in areas such as agriculture, tailoring, and hairdressing. This has helped improve their income and empowered them to contribute to their communities' development.
Training in Business Management: Women have received training in bookkeeping, accounting, and business management, giving them the skills to manage their businesses effectively and ensure long-term success. This training is ongoing, with follow-up sessions to support their continued growth.
Cooperative Structures: We have established cooperative structures that allow the women to support each other, share knowledge, and hold each other accountable for loan repayment. These cooperatives help foster a sense of community and collective growth.
Coaching for Sustainable Growth: Tailored coaching has been provided to help business owners refine their strategies, improve operations, and identify opportunities for expansion. This coaching, based on the ROPE (Real-time Outcome Planning & Evaluation) methodology, helps ensure sustainable business development.
Loan Repayment and Reinvestment: Most of the loans have been repaid, allowing us to reinvest the funds into new entrepreneurs and continue the cycle of support. This model ensures that our program remains sustainable and scalable over time.
With this success, we are now focusing on scaling our impact by establishing new RISE Centers in Sub-Saharan African countries, where we can continue to apply the ROPE methodology to help even more entrepreneurs thrive.
We’re actively seeking partners to help us expand this initiative and further empower individuals to create lasting socio-economic change in their communities.
