DAKTARI is a forever home for wild animals that cannot return to the wild due to injury or human imprinting. While living safely at our wildlife orphanage, these animals also help educate underprivileged children about environmental care. What started with a blind donkey and a bushbuck has grown into a sanctuary for over 30 animals - including a lion, a cheetah, owls, mongooses, ostriches, and more.
DAKTARI educates underprivileged children about South Africa's rich natural heritage. Our animals play a vital role in this learning experience. As a non-profit, we rely on donations to provide them with proper food, care, and a safe home. Keeping the animals healthy is essential for both their well-being and for inspiring the next generation to protect wildlife.
This project ensures our animals stay healthy through proper food, care, and safe enclosures. In turn, the children learn by observing and helping care for them, creating a meaningful, hands-on experience. This teaches compassion, responsibility, and the importance of protecting both captive and wild animals - turning education into lasting awareness and action..
A clean, caring environment with healthy animals strengthens our impact on children and, through them, their communities. By learning to respect and care for animals, children grow into ambassadors for wildlife. This creates lasting awareness and encourages a culture of compassion and conservation for future generations.
