With education and nutrition disrupted due to numerous reasons, 2022 had been a challenging school year for the children, parents, and staff at the Sunshine Day Care & Pre-school. However, the commitment on the part of everyone made it possible for fifty-two vulnerable children to attend school in-spite of the difficulties. Coming together to celebrate the competition of another year was finally here! Twenty-three children said goodbye as they transferred to grade one at a local school while twenty-nine children said, “see you next year”.
From dance and song to speeches and fun activities to receiving their graduation certificates and trophies the children along with their parents, officials and friends celebrated something outside the normal routine making their farewells festive and joyful.
As the new school year begins in many parts of the world, here in Sri Lanka, The Sunshine Charity will ensure that in 2023 too, the fifty-two children the organization takes care of do not stay out of school but have access to quality preschool education at the Centre.
