The project “Providing Healthy Water and Food for 5,953 Children” aims to carry out water drilling and vegetable production through agroecological practices in 11 primary schools in rural areas. It offers an opportunity for 5,953 pupils to access safe drinking water and healthy school meals.
The project has already been implemented in several schools, including those in the villages of Yombo, Sékia-Dalet, Nzila, M’Poko Bac, and Yamboro.
This year, the school in the village of Yombo began vegetable production. Pupils, supported by the students' association and teachers, developed 17 plots of various crops (amaranth, okra, solanum, jute, and melon). However, they are facing irrigation challenges. The improved well built in 2023 is now broken, forcing pupils and parents to fetch water from distant sources for watering the crops. Contributions are needed to fund the drilling of a borehole that will provide both drinking water and irrigation.
A dental hygiene workshop was organized at the Yamboro school to raise awareness among pupils about oral health. The objective of this workshop was to prevent the harmful effects of dental cavities on the well-being of the children. The awareness session was successfully conducted.
Vegetable production at Yamboro school has stopped due to the breakdown of the borehole installed in 2025. Income generated from water sales is insufficient to cover repair costs. An evaluation mission from the AFDD headquarters in France, led by the president and the deputy treasurer, was carried out in the Central African Republic. The team visited Yamboro village to assess the situation and organized the dental hygiene workshop during their mission.
Pupils in Yamboro village also received nutrition training using the “Nutriecole” app.
