What a great way to start a new school year 2022 with an increasing number of kids in our Campus Day Care Centre! This means we can keep more poor children safe and ensure that they get the education that is challenged by their parents being poor. Thanks to your support we are $2,573 away from our target of $11,250. We are happy that we can still go through the rest of the year with food for the aftercare.
We started our new school year in the mid of January and we have successfully enrolled 80 children coming from poor backgrounds. These children are benefitting from free lunch and aftercare thanks to your generous donations from last year! Our cooking staffs, Mama Martha and Queen are in their new uniform and continue with their amazing service for the children by preparing a well-balanced diet throughout the week.
Later that January, 25th, we had a Clinic day for our Day Care Centre where our Health Project was able to organize the physical screening to assess the nutritional needs of all our children. We measured their height against their weight to determine their BMI and provide the proper nutritional care and advice, especially to the teachers and parents at home. We also provided prophylactic deworming to ensure that their physical and mental growth and development are not affected due to malnourishment.
“Testing, learning and improving,” is what we walked with during our mid-term tests from April 4th to 8th. This way we can identify which children need additional support, in which areas we need to work harder, and in which areas we can improve our curriculum and teaching methods. We are also happy that we have managed to arrange for a better transportation method for our increased number of children which is safer and cost-effective.
Thank you for your continued support!
