Opportunity for Education
By Andrew Mullens | Kimbilio Support
Thank you so much for your financial support for this Kimbilio Project. Education is life-changing, particularly for former street children whose lives have been damaged through no fault of their own.
The new Kimbilio School is proving very popular and there are currently twenty-three junior-aged and nine secondary-aged former street children receiving education alongside 335 local children, many of whose parents could not afford the fees for State schools. It is so important that these children have the opportunity for education so that they are not at a disadvantage to those children from more stable backgrounds.
Your donations enable us to pay the salaries of the teachers and support staff, purchase teaching materials and maintain the school building and grounds.

Every Child has the Right to an Education
By Andrew Mullens | Kimbilio Support
Junior Boys Class
Thank you so much for your financial support for the Project - 'Provide Life-Changing Education to Children in DRC'. This enables Kimbilio to provide education at the new Kimbilio School to the street children who are staying in the four Kimbilio houses plus children from families living in the area around the school who cannot afford normal school fees.
Education is life-changing for children forced to live on the streets because it offers them the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will hopefully lead to gaining a good quality job when they leave school. Often, the children are forced on to the streets because their familes can no longer afford to support them, so education is the key that can break this cycle of poverty.
Kimbilio has recently started a new initiative. Five former street children have started at the University in Lubumbashi and Kimbilio is supporting them financially. In return, the five students volunteer each week at the Day Centre where they are able to inspire the street children with the way that they have changed around their lives with Kimbilio support.

Giving Life Chances

Presentation Day
Thank you for your financial support for this Project which enables Kimbilio to provide education to children who have been living on the streets and for children of local families who could not afford the school fees for state schools. There are now 245 children at the Kimbilio school. Your support covers the school fees, the salaries for the teachers, the purchase of teaching materials and the maintenance of the school building and grounds.
The school program has now expanded from teaching the Primary curriculum to offer the first three years of the secondary curriculum. In addition to the usual Congolese curriculum taught in French, it offers art, sport, IT in a dedicated IT suite, and English from Nursery upwards, none of which is taught in any but the most expensive private schools.
The Kimbilio Founding Director has just returned from Lubumbashi where he presented prizes to the children at the end of the school year. It was a joyous day seeing the happiness on the faces of children as they received their awards and the education that they are receiving is giving them a chance of a bright future.
