Dear Friends,
LDA’s Raising a Reader family engagement and literacy program would like to say thank you for the investment and generosity you have shown our families and their pre-school age children! Your donation is going towards the Parents in Community Action Head Start Program (PICA) site located in the Phillips Neighborhood in Minneapolis.
With your gift we will be purchasing additional materials and books for 20 children and their families. We will also conduct parent training on early literacy, the importance and power of reading, and begin to make library connections. The Raising a Reader Program will serve children who may otherwise start Kindergarten already behind their peers.
Please know you are helping to change the lives of children with your generosity. Our parents are very appreciative of the books and the program. Please read a few of their comments:
“My kids love carrying the book bag home every week and seeing what new books are in there.”
“I like that I have a week to read the books to my child.”
“The book bags have helped me make sure I get reading time with my child.”
From all of us here at LDA’s Raising a Reader program, thank you for your support!
