From Shy Scholarship Student to Promising Engineer

Other scholarship students come to support Abdoul

A few weeks ago, a milestone event took place at a telecommunications engineering school in Niamey, Niger. Abdoul, one of our scholarship students, successfully defended his final project before a jury of professors and a large audience of fellow students, friends and family. Following this outstanding presentation, he earned his Bachelor's Degree with the exceptional score of 17/20.

This achievement is more than an academic success: it crowns a remarkable journey, marked by serious challenges but also by rare determination. It also stands as a powerful symbol for all the scholarship students in our association, many of whom were present in the room to cheer him on and celebrate his victory.

A Challenging Path

Nothing seemed to predestine Abdoul to become an engineer. Born into a highly disadvantaged family, his parents, illiterate and non-French speaking, were unable to support his schooling at Hampaté Ba Secondary School. His grandfather played that crucial role until he died, leaving Abdoul to face life on his own at an early age.

As a timid child who also struggled with stuttering, he was often isolated and without friends. Yet, instead of giving up, he drew from his situation an extraordinary determination to succeed. Early on, he understood that the scholarship provided by our association was not just help—it was his one chance to transform his life.

Essential Support

Like all our scholarship students, Abdoul benefited from vital assistance provided by our non-profit:
• Tutoring sessions to compensate for the lack of academic support at home,
• One daily meal throughout his schooling to give him the strength and energy needed to study
• Guidance counseling at critical stages of his education.

Combined with his intelligence and perseverance, this support enabled him to overcome obstacles and succeed at every stage of his academic journey.

A Personal and Collective Victory

Abdoul’s brilliant presentation will long be remembered. It was not only his personal success being celebrated, but also the spirit of solidarity among scholarship students. Their enthusiastic presence and long applause showed that his journey is proof that, despite difficult beginnings, excellence, success, and dreams come true, are within reach.

Looking Ahead

Encouraged by this triumph, Abdoul now plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Telecommunications, a field in high demand in Niger. This next step will open strong career opportunities and allow him to put his skills at the service of his country.

A Story that Inspires—and a Call for Continued Support

Abdoul’s journey highlights the power of personal determination combined with collective support. His story proves that even in the most unlikely circumstances, perseverance and solidarity can transform lives.

If Abdoul has reached this level, it is thanks to his hard work and the backing of our association—made possible by the generosity of our donors. Every meal, every hour of tutoring, every piece of guidance exists because of your support.

Today, many other children from disadvantaged backgrounds are waiting for their chance. Let’s keep building more success stories like Abdoul’s. With your generosity, other young people will also be able to turn their dreams into real achievements and become role models for generations to come.
Thank you for your continued contributions.
