Milk is an important part of children's diets. It provides nutritional supplements for our orphan students. There are no large grocery stores where you can purchase milk for schools. Most milk is produced on small family farms and it produces just enough for the families. By purchasing cows for our schools we can provide milk for our students. In addition, the cows will produce calves that can be raised or sold and the cow manure can be used for bio-fuel.
We work to improve the diets and nutrition for the orphan students. Milk is a powerful defense against childhood malnutirion and decreases mortality. Improved nutrition also improves educational outcomes for the children. Healthy children do better in school and an education is critical for orphans to be able to grow up and get jobs that they can support themselves and their families.
