As a concluding event of the academic year 2018, Childhope Philippines once again recognized its street children who have successfully completed an academic degree, moving up to another grade level, and the Basic Literacy Program, and most especially to street children who achieved excellence for academic year of 2018.
A total of 101 students had been recognized—twenty-six (26) from the Malayan Street Education Program, fifty (50) from the organization’s Educational Assistance Program, and twenty-five (25) from the functional literacy of ATE Academy. The actual number of participating students in this event is lower than the expected. Nevertheless, the event was still full of fun as students proudly walked and accepted their certificate and token symbolizing their perseverance to education.
EAP Scholars’ Recognition Day
Held last June 15, before the 2019 school year start, Childhope organized its annual day of recognition for the academic achievements of its beneficiaries under the organization’s Educational Assistance Program (EAP) at Ravengar Court, Paco, Manila. Fifty (50) street children were awarded certificates of recognition and medals for the excellence in academics during the ceremony.
Also, the highlight of the event was the sharing of personal stories of the three college graduates, Genesis (BS Aircraft Mechanic), Jennelyn (BS Industrial Psychology), Christian (Bachelor in Business Teacher Education Major in Business Technology and Livelihood). A common note in their speeches was the impact of the education they received from Childhope and how it has shaped their skills and qualities to become better individuals ready to join the workforce or take on higher education.
The event was also graced by the presence of some of the programs’ sponsors and other former graduates who have been part of the program.
A.T.E Academy Moving Up Ceremony
Through the collaboration of Museo Pambata and Childhope Philippines Foundation, thirty (30) street kids gleefully marched, and received their certificate of recognition and awards during the ATE Academy’s moving up ceremony last April 2019.
The program was led by Childhope Philippines’ Program Manager, Ms. Lorna Salen.
Capping off the ceremony, Ms. Salen expressed her closing heartfelt gratitude to children and their families for choosing to be part of the program as their second home. She also reminded the children to always carry with them the good values that the institution has instilled them.
This A.T.E. (Ako, Tayo, Para sa Edukasyon) Academy is a joint project of Museo Pambata and Childhope Philippines started in 2013 wherein it supports select out-of-school youth or under-performing school children living in the streets of Luneta Park and South Pier in Manila through a daily tutorials in art, english, and math.
Malayan Street Education Program (SEP) Graduation Day
On the 19th year of Malayan’s Street Education Program (SEP), our street children were once again given the chance to learn how to read, write, and count through engagements in various sessions such as Basic Literary Program (BLP) and Alternative Learning System (ALS).
For this batch, a total of 26 street children who completed the basic literary and numeracy class and was recognized and received their certificate of accomplishment last July 2, 2019.
This corporate social responsibility program has successfully produced a total of 412 graduates since year 2000. The SEP graduation was graced by Malayan Insurance President Ms. Yuchengco, Rev. Father Lim of Binondo Parish Church and representatives from Childhope Philippines Foundation.

As the school year ended and another school year comes to start, Childhope Philippines grateful to their Street Educators, volunteers, partners, and donors who has been very helpful in supporting the street children’s education. Also, Childhope highly recognized the street children’s families for guiding them with wisdom and love during these most formative of years.
