Challenge

Since the first case of covid-19 was reported in Kenya on march 13th 2020 and thereafter a cessation of movement countrywide, a lot of people lost their jobs especially those who depend on casual labor. Those who are hard hit are the slums dwellers, a majority depend on casual jobs such as construction works, home cleaning etc. Since they cannot access those work places, they are forced to go without food and basic amenities. They are exposed in the process of trying to fend for their families.

Solution

-It will reduce infection and spread of the disease to the families since we shall bring the food staff and sanitation materials to their doorsteps. - It will mitigate their hunger, provide nutritious food and keep them health and safe. - It will reduce movements in the such of livelihood as food will be delivered right on their doors by our assistants. - It will help the kids focus on online learning and home study to avoid being left behind in school work by other less vulnerable students.

Long-Term Impact

This project will enable over 80 beneficiaries to have a peace of mind in terms of basic amenities and thus they can have ample time to think and come up with alternative sources of income after ones this project has elapsed . Balasi as an organization will gain more trust from the kibera people and thus they will welcome future projects that this organization will be involved in. This will be a good platform to mentor, teach life skills and develop their skills in the art industry -
