Children attending Government Schools in India are from very poor families. Parents can not even afford a pair of school shoes for their children. Though shoes alone do not solve problems they face, but we all agree that it helps children build their self-esteem and give hope. A pair of shoes will ensure a child's feet are protected from infection and injuries. A child in full uniform attending school is a delight to watch. We wish to give them ties, belt and ID cards as well.
It is a common site to see children walking to Government schools without even slippers, not to talk of shoes. Many kids end up with diseases that kill or seriously threaten their health, because of a disease or fungus they picked up while walking barefoot to school. Providing school shoes for needy students is an effective way to provide protection to their feet on their way to school and instill a sense of hope.
A modest $10 gift will ensure a child's feet will be protected from the hardness of the roads, injuries and infection. Children are less likely to skip classes if they are provided good attire. It gives them the chance to walk with pride alongside more privileged students. Finally, If the child comes with shoes, belt, tie, it would be a delight to watch for the parents and teachers.
The project will provide 600 pairs of shoes to needy children in Government schools, mostly living in Gowdavally Village, an impoverished neighborhood. Children will feel happier coming to school wearing shoes and stay fit. It will reduce the financial burden of parents who might be feeling sad about not providing shoes for their kids. Finally, the school authorities will be happy to see their wards dressed well.
