Students at YUM VTC: getting ready to work!

YUM is very happy to see the enthusiasm of the students to attend to our VTC program. In this term that will end in mid-December, we have 284 students attending our Computer, English and Sewing classes.

Thanks to the support of GlobalGiving donors, we are able to have 13 classes this term. We want to give a chance to all who apply; and that is why, this term the VTC is even open during weekends.

We see how important this VTC is to them. Students aim to be able to work and the VTC is a way to attain their goal so that they can bring some money to their much needed families.

Besides the regular classes, we have volunteers who time to time visit our VTC and join the lessons, especially the English classes. Students have to demonstrate what they have learnt and become excited when students find out that they are able to speak and joke with them.

“My name is Ulfah. I am student of Basic 1 Sewing Class. This is my first time to learn about sewing. I was afraid at the beginning that I would not be able to get along with the lessons. But my Tutor, Ms. Ila, is very patient; she explains and shows us step by step how to make a cloth properly. Now I feel more confident and I hope when I finish the course to be able to start doing some clothes and get some money to help my parents.”

Thank you GlobalGiving donors for supporting this program aimed to give a chance to hundreds of young people to attain skills to improve their quality of live.
