How to prepare for the professional world!

One of the aims of the Cipanas Vocational Training Center is to help the older students, those in their last year of High School, to gain more employability. Besides making sure they have added skills to their CV, during every term, we organise 1 to 2 Job Seeking Skill Workshops. The aim of this activity is to prepare the students in getting a job in the future. The students learn how write an attractive curriculum vitae and prepare themselves for an interview. They learn directly from an expert, who are managers and can therefore easily explain what are a company’s needs and expectations.

In our latest workshop, we held a group discussion session and worked on a job interview simulation. The students were divided into groups and given a few questions that are frequently asked during the interview. They discussed which answer was the best according to their group and a representative presented their answer in front of the class. Next, a role-play was organised where the expert played the interviewer while some of the students played the interviewee. The whole class was able to learn how to perform well in an interview. Practice makes perfect!

This end of year, we would like your help with another of YUM's projects, a library and early childhood learning centre in West Java which is currently looking for donors to keep it alive. This award-winning project is up on GlobalGiving and you can view the project here

GlobalGiving is providing four amazing opportunities for you to make the most out of your donation:

1. Little By Little By Little Campaign: from October 25th to November 1st, all donations up to £50 via globalgiving.co.uk will be matched at 50%!

2. #GivingTuesday: on November 29th, for the first half million dollars raised, all costs of transaction processing on donations is covered by a generous donor! So your donation goes fully to your chosen organisation!

3. Year End Donations: on November 29th, there is $20,000 available in bonus prizes and after that until December 31st, there is an another $10,000 available in bonus prizes!

4. Recurring Match Donations: from November 29th to December 31st, any new recurring donation will be matched 100% on the fourth month! If you were to set up a recurring donation on #GivingTuesday, your donation would be free of transaction costs, contribute towards our goals of reaching one of the $20,000 bonus prizes AND be matched at 100% on the fourth months. That's A LOT for one donation :)

Please know that we are extremely grateful for donors like you for all the help you are providing to our projects! Thank you for being part of our community!

Warm regards,

Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM)
