The final term of the YUM-Vocational Training Centre in 2016 ended with the distribution of 190 certificates for the graduated students, from an initial cohort of over 200 registered participants. The certificate is an important symbol for the students who have completed the course. To gain the certificate the students must be presenting the class not less than 75 percent of the time and completethe final exam. This certificate will be a very good asset for them when they apply for ajob. Beside the course certificate, we also provide them the Job Seeking Skills certificate for participating in the job skills workshop.
With 7 tutors, the term started by having 6 classes for Computer skills, 4 classes for English and 3 classes for Sewing. We also held the classes in the weekend, as most of the students are in the last year of school and their school’s activities are very hectic during weekdays. We are very fortunate for having a staff of dedicated and passionate tutors that are willing to teach on the weekend.
The highest number of students are in the Computer class. The awareness of the need to have updated knowledge in information technology remains high among people in Cipanas, especially for the youth. YUM VTC is working hard to constantly improve the skills of our dedicated computer trainers and update the course material in line with program updates in order to give the best opportunity for Cipanas residents to participate in the digital economy.
YUM are very thankful to GlobalGiving donor’s continuous support for the Vocational Training Centre. With your support, YUM remains optimistic that more and more young people in Cipanas will have the opportunity to improve their quality of life. Thank you.
