Solar Lanterns to Brighten Children's Night Study

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear donors,

We sincerely thank you for your support toward the “Provide Solar Lanterns for Children's Night Study” project. The letter of approval from the FCT Secondary Education Board delayed our start, but with it in hand, we will joyfully roll out the first phase and bring light to students who need this project greatly.

Many children in rural areas cannot study after sunset because their homes have no electricity. Some try to read under the moon or near open fires, exposing themselves to snakebites, insect stings, and other risks. Without proper lighting, students lose valuable time to complete homework, read, and prepare for school.

This project will provide 1,000 solar lanterns to households without electricity. The lanterns are safe, fuel-free, and easy to use. With steady light at home, children can study after sunset, complete their lessons, and enter school ready to learn. Families also benefit from safer homes without reliance on open flames or kerosene lamps.

Upon school resumption on Monday, January 5, 2026, we have written to the FCT Secondary Education Board and are currently waiting for the approval letter. Once received, we will begin implementing the first phase of the project, bringing immediate support and joy to students who need evening lighting for their studies.

Your support can help children gain extra study time after sunset, improve their learning, and enter school confident and prepared.

May God bless you, and thanks for being so kind,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
